I am left of center on most issues. So why are you posting such tripe? What tripe? All I said was that Europeans can be just as vulgar and crude as we can. No sir, that's *not* what you said. They are certainly no benchmark of civility to which we have to hold up our own moral standards. You take a single instance of murder in a country that's barely considered European (it's just as much Asian as it is European) and you extrapolate that this makes them barbaric. And yet, you ignore the 10,000 plus instances of Americans murdering other Americans with guns. What are you insinuating? That the Asian subculture is responsible for their barbarism? Why has me highlighting a single, irrelevant incident of football hooliganism got you into such a bind? I agree. Perhaps I was exaggerating when I said that Europeans can be as violent as Americans. America needs gun reform. No doubt about it. That being said, I still like Europe. Yeah, right. If I didn't then I'd just dismiss it as a 'toilet' just like McKelvy and Pyjamarama do so eloquently. snort. I sure miss England - not the weather or the plumbing. But I miss the Premiership, the local and sipping brew with the lads. Wow, this really means that you are friendly with "foreign cultures". snort Probably a lot more than you are, mate. I am not a xenophobe, I am not a hatemonger. I am socially and politically very liberal. I've had the good fortune of living in Africa, Europe, Asia and North America. Oh and by the way, I'm not an American citizen so even I got fingerprinted when I came back last week. Maybe they should have shut the gates. After all, you probably look a lot like the fellows that destroyed the World Trade Center, right? Your point being? My point, which covers pretty much everything in the above post and your initial post is that you took a single instance of something that happened almost in Asia (and well outside the mainstream of European life) and made it sound like the whole culture was barbaric. Then you made an analogy to a sporting event in the US that wasn't valid. Then you used other examples to bolster your point and I showed you how similar things are happening here in the US. Your initial post seemed to me to be trying to stir up some hatred shrug. You tried to take the **** out of Europe, but you failed... |
