BMWs are wannabe cars. They wannabe a Porsche or they wannabe a
Mercedes, they do neither very well but fall (and that is the
operative
word) flat somewhere between (and well behind) either. Add to that,
their build quality has been plummeting lately.

Interesting view: I've always seen Porsche's as jumped-up Volkswagens,

In the High-End aspect are you both wrong. BMW, Mercedes and Porsche are
high quality cars on the street. High-End cars are only the
non-compromise versions like Porsche Carrera GT, Lamborghini Murcielago,
Mercedes SLR McLaren, Audi LeMans, Bugatti Veyron.
