Wow...it certainly lives up to the hype! My Marantz SA 15S1 arrived today, and it's amazing. The standard CD sounds as good or better than my Meridian 588(which I'm now selling!), and SACD is incredibly warm and detailed. I have a few old CDs that have been re-issued on SACD, such has Jascha Heifetz' Brahms and Tchaikovsky Violin Concertos, and the improvement is staggering--much greater clarity, space, etc. I'm sold! the newly remastered Reiner Don Juan / Quixote sounds incredible on ordinary CD as well. I'd love to hear it on SACD now! -- what a performance!! Its one of the greatest of all strauss recordings. |
