![]() I recently bought the FutureRetro Revolution mono synth and I love it. I need some advice, though, on finding a SIMPLE, but quality, true analog drum unit to accompany it. I prefer hardware. I'm currently trying out the Jomox '09, and while the sounds are superb, I'm not wild about the interface. The LED readout is a bit cryptic and some of the drum kit modifications are more in-depth than I need them to be. I'm looking for more of an easy "accompaniment device" than a machine that requires lots of programming. The Jomox may be the simplest out there-I'm not sure. But, I was intrigued by the Vermona DRM MKII. It has 72 knobs so that the tweaking is not menu-driven, and it's got great sound. I've received some mixed messages about its lack of a sequencer, however. Will I be too limited with just using the FutureRetro Revolution to drive it? Or, will there be enough of a variety of sounds to fulfill my "accompaniment" purposes? I do want SOME control over the drums-I just don't want it to be too time-consuming or difficult. I'll keep the Jomox if there's nothing else, but are there any other currently manufactured true analog hardware drum machines besides the Vermona and the Jomox? (I already know about Elektron's MachineDrum. Way more features than I need and way too expensive.) |
