jakdedert wrote On 01/30/06 08:51,: I picked this up in a mixed-lot auction. It's a cute little transformer coupled DI box with switchable attenuation (-20 -- -40 dB) allowing it to arguably used on the output of an amp. Construction seems robust enough.... The retail price is only $30, and the specs he http://www.alectrosystems.com/shop/data/DB25.pdf don't look too promising; but I wanted to see if anyone here has had any direct (no pun intended) experience/opinion. jak I use them, but only where critical quiet requirements are not necessary -- so no studio use, period. That said, for what they are, they are quiet enough for live gigs, which is what I use them for. If you really need more control, phase reversal, et al, then go with something better, like the Boss DI-1, which is about $100 USD; it's versatile. But then there are the Radials, and Countrymans and, and, and... how much you want to spend? Passive device...I didn't expect noise, per se, to be an issue. Just wondered if there were any outstanding 'nasties' to watch out for. Thanks. jak --Fletch |
