![]() I'm looking for a MIDI guitar that I can use to play in parts for software conversion to TAB. Or just scored notes on staves. Does anyone have a cheap idea for me? Is there something I can put on an existing guitar? Thanks |

Thanks You would need a guitar midi interface like the Roland GI 20 and the GK3 pickup to convert the guitar to midi.Using a sequencer such as Nuendo, Cubase, Sonar, etc you could record the midi sequences. Nuendo has a tab tool that changes from regular staff notation to tablature, but it takes a lot of work to get accuracy. To make the conversion easier, try http://www.tabledit.com or search for another tablature converter/editor. Randall |

Thanks for the tips. I will go check it out now. As for the sequencer,
I have cubase and know how to do it with a keyboard so the guitar is just the last step. Danny |

You might look at Godin as they track well for me. I really like the
Godin Mulitac ACS Nylon Synth Access Guitar and I have a Godin Multiac Steel SA I've used these on Axon and Roland synths and compared to the Roland pickups, they are better for me. If you are new to MIDI guitar, please be advised that the technique is a bit tricky, at least it was for me. I found I needed a cleaner style to avoid extra, unwanted notes. You can of course clean this up in Cubase. BTW, there is a free program out there that you might want to play around with as it compliments MIDI guitar. I actually wrote it and it is now open source and the VB6.0 source code is available he [http://www.planet-source-code.com/vb...1625&lngWId=1] A description of the program and the compiled version is located he [http://www.moosenose.com/TUNING.HTM]. I've had no feedback on this program despite the fact that it has been floating around the web for about 15 years. If you try it, please let me know what you think. I refer to it as the poor man's Roland VG88. ....Moose On 18 Jan 2006 01:23:15 -0800, "Danny T" wrote: I'm looking for a MIDI guitar that I can use to play in parts for software conversion to TAB. I'll second the recommendation for Godin. They're very well made for the money. As for tracking, well, after seeing Al DiMeola play an ACS live, I had to have one. If it can keep up with his playing, it will never have a problem with mine. Stuart |
