one of my alesis mk2 active speakers is acting up---seems like the bass
amp is fried...cold its ok---but run the thing for a length of time and eventually the bass just gets beyond messy one big fuzz ball of distortion. turn it off, come back later and its fine....till it heats up. wondering if i could make the repairs myslef---parts available?? its out of warranty and i live in hawaii and shipping to mainland is expensive....so my repair options are limited. cheers! |

It could possibly be a damaged speaker. Swap the bass drivers around and see what happens. Gareth. |

Call Alesis. They will likely pay half the shipping cost if they agree
it's under warrantly. They repaired one of these for me this year and did a fine job with a quick turnaround time. |

Could be _anything_. If you aren't comfortable with a scope and a signal generator, take it down to your local TV repair shop and let them look at it. The circuits in these things are nothing too terribly unusual. If Precision Electronics is still open in Honolulu, they can probably recommend someone. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra.
