Sound card for monitoring only
I want to run the in and out of MIDI and the input of audio through USB but monitor everything through my PCI sound card and its 5.1 speakers. Is this a dumb idea and if so why? Which sound card should I buy (for less than $125.00 used or new) that doesn't have all the midi in and out stuff that i won't need but will give a clean function. I currently have a C-Media and its 5.1 but pops even when I start real player or other players. |

If you're looking for a good cheap consumer interface for monitoring, the Creative Labs Live!24-Bit might be a good choice. About $30 in computer stores or online. CL also has a USB-based interface in the $40 range that works about as well. I think its called the SoundBlaster USB MP3. |
