Default help : PM G3 + audiomedia III = editing and mastering ???

Hello,

I had a PM8100 and a Digidesign Audiomedia II , with Sounddesigner, it
was the best way for me to edit end masterise. Adaptec Toast to burn
and the CD's done.

Now, scsi hard disc and burner are deads and I have a PM G3 B/W with an
Audiomedia III .
I going to buy a burner soon.

so, many questions :

I install OSX or OS9 ? with SDII or Protool or other ?

thanks,

Pascal,

I dragged my feet on this for a LONG, LONG time, continuing to use
various Nubus machines with an AMII card, and then a 9650 with AMIII
card, and Sound Designer II. I was able to squeeze a remarkable amount
of life out of it, always fiddling to get various old stuff to work
with theoretically incompatible new stuff. It stopped being worthwhile
about 2 years ago, I think. I will probably not power up any of those
old machines again. I haven't done any mastering type work in a while,
but when I next need to do so, I will probably join the 21st century.
I'm told the WaveBurner Pro version that's out now, part of the Logic
software package which is now owned by Apple, will do what we need
done, which Masterlist CD stopped doing quite a while ago. I don't
know if there are any editors out now (Peak? Audacity?) that will make
me as happy as SDII, but at this point trying to use SDII is going to
be way more of a pain in the ass than trying to edit on a lesser
program. Having the ability to use modern hardware and software
eventually outweighs the ability to use the slick little editor we've
been used to. That's my view anyway. It may change a bit when I
actually get back into using the stuff. But I know I will not be going
back to that old stuff.
