I've recently bought an M-Audio Firewire 410 and am having some serious
problems getting it to work with cubase. Basically whenever I start
cubase the interface is recognised and it picks up input from it and
you can record or do whatever however, after what seems like a random
event (I can't seem to get it to work every time i do any particular
thing or even type of thing) the whole interface freezes up, the
control panel shows nothing coming into inputs or out of it and cubase
stops recognising anything either. It doesn't seem to cause this
problem if I untick turn off the ASIO direct monitoring inside cubase
but if I do that then the sound has pops and clicks in it so it's not
really acceptable!

The card works fine with all standard recording software but I haven't
got any other software that uses ASIO so that could be the problem.
Other than that one rather major problem It seems to function
perfectly.

I am using:

Windows XP on a laptop
Cubase SX3 latest version
M-Audio drivers version 5.10.0.5036

If anyone has any idea how I could solve this or has had similar
problems please help!

Funny thing---I just purchased an FW1814 and M-Powered protools and
I have similar problems in Protools! It sometimes behaves fine for
a time and then I lose the inputs---but I keep the outputs. The
control panel becomes very sluggish.

I have been trying all the fixes that M-Audio has suggested.
I am running it on a new Dell Inspiron 6000.

Weirdly, it seems to behave a lot better with Wavelab!
