I just installed an EMU 0404 , running XP-sp2. System also has a Santa
Cruz Turtle Beach soundcard. Installed all the included software but have not used any of it yet, trying to do things one at a time. I connected the two analog outputs to unused inputs (the phono inputs) on my stereo receiver. When I play a wave file, there is terrible static and crackling. I can barely hear the wav file playing in the background of the static and crackling. I hope this is something easy/stupid I'm doing wrong ....... On a separate matter, anyone know of a free tray program I can use to switch input/output between soundcards so I don't have to go through Control Panel each time? Thanks for any directionion on this Rod |

Ok I found the problem. Apparently phono output is much less than
other things, so the phono input on a receiver has a much lower sensitivity. I went into the Patchmix software and turned the output dowen to about -40 db and it plays beautifully. Guess I'll have to learn what exactly Patchmix does, sessions and strips, etc. |

If you plug the output of a standard MM cartridge into a normal line input, you will discover you have no low end and very strident treble. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra.
