Did anybody see the Southpark episode with the kids competing in a
breakdance competition? (it's on!...you got served!) But anyway, I was wondering if the whole r.a.p. dinner thing has been focused into an actual place and time? The last one at Chelsea Piers was awesome. |

little old me? my instinct would be to gather at an exhibit at 6:00pm
and then mob a mexican restaurant. not sure if that would be the best way to do it. |

The group has become too large to do that. What we used to do was meet at the restaurant reservations ("Concierge") booth at the convention center, count noses, and then ask them to find us a restaurant within reasonable distance that could accommodate a group of that size within the hour. With a crowd as large as we've been getting for the last several years, it's essential to make arrangements in advance, and that usually means putting up a deposit on a credit card. Steve Lampen of Belden has been gracious enough to do this in recent years, but I haven't seen an announcement yet. Maybe this will remind him that it's about time, or at least poke him into saying "It's someone else's turn." It's a good idea for a local to make the arrangements, to check out the place first to see if it still exists and has the space. |
