Sorry to waste the bandwidth here, but apparently there is little activity
on the O1/V newsgroup these days. I'm trying to find a way to set the routing up so that I can record a concert as I run sound. I'd like to do tihs without the channel EQ and effects that go to the mains also going to the recorder. But from what I can tell of the cryptic manual, there's no way to do this. Anyone here know a trick? George Reiswig Song of the River Music |

Do you want to record a stereo mix or a multi-track of the separate channels? Either way I can't think of a completely satisfactory solution. As far as I can tell, the channel EQ isn't routable. It is possible to configure the omni outs (and undoubtedly various add-on card outputs) as channel direct outs, but this is unfortunately post-fader and therefore probably post-EQ as well. It wouldn't hurt to confirm that, though. It should be a little easier to avoid recording the effects, however. Try routing every channel to buses 1&2, and then assigning 2 of the omni outs as bus outputs. Assuming that the effects returns are left out of the buses, the recording mix should be effect-free. Of course, this assumes you want to record your live mix instead of a separate recording mix. If so, try your hand with using the aux sends, but stereo panning will get confusing quickly with mono auxes. Hope this helped somewhat. Travis Garrison |

Please check http://srforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/t/6385/0 particularly, message #51327 was made by Mac Kerr on Wed, 11 May 2005 14:49 I'd like to do this without the channel EQ and effects that go to the mains also going to the recorder. On an analog console, the best way to make a clean recording on a track-per-channel basis is to hook your recorder inputs to direct outs. If your board has you direct outs, then the next best way is to tap into the insert points, using a cable that "Y"'s the signal out of the board, and also continues the signal through the insert jack. Hosa sells such a cable: http://www.americanmusical.com/item-...brand-124.html You can simulate this cable with a cable that has a standard TR 1/4 connector, and not inserting it fully into the insert jack, which is good for occasional use but not stable enough for long term use. Thing is, an 01V like most other low and mid-end digital mixers, does not have enough onboard inputs and outputs to cover every channel. If you are fully exploiting your O1V, then you have some kind of outboard analog interfaces. The Behringer ADA8000 is very popular for adding mic inputs. Usually there are a bunch of analog outputs in the ADA8000 looking for work. You just found a job for them. It's prettty easy to route the 01V direct outs to the outputs on the ADA8000 or to a computer interface for ADAT or a large number of AES/EBU inputs, depending on what kind expansion card you have. |

All activity has moved to a newer Yahoo group called "Yamaha01V". It is an active forum, with over 200 members. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Yamaha01V/ |
