I think crossposting is in the rap charter? Doesn't it say 'if you have a
really dumb thread, crosspost it to at least one irrelevant newsgroup.' I
think it says that specifically.

You are certainly not winning any converts, that's a fact.

I have not met a single person that has stuck with Linux for more than a

Why?
Because they already own Windows and all the applications and they soon
discover that Linux does nothing well except consume their time.

To me, this synthesiser junk isn't music, it's masturbation,
and it's sending my late i-Gen kids
( 8 and 11 the older two, the younger two are 4 and 2
- what does that make 'em? Anyone ? ) blind.

Congratulations. The transformation into your parents is complete.

People have been making 'synth junk' for a long time, since this guy was
brand new. It's been popular for almost as long. What the hell is 'Like A
Virgin' or Human League? He just likes what he likes - four or five dudes
playing electric, not electronic instruments, with a big ol' drum kit in the
middle. That's fine, he just needs not to **** out of his mouth so much.

As far as people not liking music, sure they like it, it's just that when
they go to Best Buy there are all kinds of non-music shiny round discs that
they can buy, and they choose music sometimes and games or DVD's sometimes.
People still love the shiny discs more than ever, much more than they loved
black vinyl discs, cassettes, videotapes, or game cartridges. Add up the
sales of games, software, CD's, and DVD's and it's pretty evident that media
as a whole is bigger than ever, as long as it's on a shiny silver disc. It's
just that people don't always buy the music discs, especially when a movie
can cost less, and games cost so much that there's no money left to buy a
CD.

Funny how the wintrolls go on and on about Linux and OSS being free
and that is the only reason we use it but they are the first to
suggest stealing SW and even giving links to warez sights on
occasions. They also go on and on about never actuallly buying MS
SW. Seems to me the wintrolls are the cheapskates and very lacking in

You obviously are Not talking to the same kids that I am.

She's part Gypsy, of Romanian extraction.

She's from Boston, her mom kicked her out or something like that.

Why would I have to go there to pay the bill? I do that through the

they handle it from there.

No-one in their right mind should submit anything in Word DOC format. Just a
simple version change can make it unreadable.

Rich text format does everything most sensible ppl need and the files are a *lot*
smaller.

I've seen some software companies refuse to accept CVs / resumes in DOC format
btw.

This is most likely completely false.

Assuming you aren't just the typical grade of proletariat, then the
only value your time would have is opportunity cost. The actual monetary value
of your time would be eliminated by the fact that you don't get paid for any
more hours spent working.

Even if you don't assume that, there is still the problem of finding
a willing consumer of your random free time. Here you would likely be at the
mercy of the usual oversupply of labor. So, even if you were willing to work
more you would not get the opportunity.

If you can't access Verizon Wireless to pay your bill under Linux
then Verizon is exposing you to an unacceptable security risk.

GenX has the cyber punk attitude towards the system.

It realizes that it's unfixable; therefore, any extraction of benefit
from it is acceptable. There is no Hippie notion of /selling/ /out/,
nor is there a craving for money either. It's known that the outcomes
of jobs, money, income are unpredictable.

Thinking in terms of generational conflict is inherently naive. At this
point, the whole issue is nothing more than ad copy. What you don't get is
that the whole concept of 'generation' only exists to cycle products and
