When i try to burn a compiliation of MP3'S to a Cd through Roxio (I
have tried others too) the status bar comes up as if it's getting ready
to burn and then nothing happens. the dvd drive seems to disappear ??

Has this drive ever worked for you in any way with this
particular PC and software?

Download and try either Exact Audio Copy (i.e. EAC) or CDex and try
extracting with those. If they work, then Roxio may be the problem and you
may need to do a clean and reinstall of it and all their patches.
