![]() I'm thinking about building something that lets me trigger samples with my voice when I'm playing live. If I could get a headset mic that wasn't too sensitive it might work. Has anyone attempted something like this before. Paul |

Paul Hi Paul, Its probably been done before although I can't think of an example right now. Implementing it depends on what you really want to do. Do you just have one sample you want to trigger ( just use a mic into a trigger to midi converter ) or do you have many different ones? If you have many, how do you want to select which one to trigger? Bring up the samples by hand on the sampler? Several mics, one for each sample? Volume sensitivity selection? ( soft, loud and louder triggers three different samples ) Pitch selection? ( you would need a pitch to midi trigger ) Also, are you planning on only using your voice for triggering sample or do you plan on singing too? Start looking at the hardware made for drum and guitar synths ( like Alesis and Roland products ). Best of luck! -- John L Rice |

You could even use some band pass filters and multiple rms detectors so different pitches triggered different samples. It's a little tricky to get to grips with, but for custom things like this it's really nice. Check out the bonk~ pd module. It's really for detecting percussive sounds and triggering stuff, but may do what you want. Paul |
