Well, just thought I'd come on and let everyone know that the new
presonus firePOD is out, and I happened to buy one to replace the
firestation, and the thing is incredible. I used it for a week
straight and it is absolutely flawless. If anyone is thinking about
getting a new interface. It's got 8 mic preamps! well, just thought
I'd let people know that it is incredible, and you should check it
out!

that $600 master of sonic perfectness..

What they must have $50 in components in each pre-amp. WOW it must sound
really good!

Did you happen to pick it up at guitar center too??

It's not a matter of prices, its a matter of performance. Assigning a number
to a comparison of performance levels can be very tough.

However, a lot of hit records were cut with things like ca.1930s AM radio
station mixing boards. The better examples of that genre might not be too
bad, but there were also err, price leaders. For example transformers are
common in equipment like that, and we all know how the sound quality of
audio transformers can vary all over the map.

Although at that price it would definitely use op-amp preamps, but knowing
Presonus they're probably on par with Soundcraft's rather than Mackie's or
Behringer's, so they'd be useable in a pinch and certainly adequate for the
hobbyist, and if you can find a cheaper way to record 8-channels on a laptop
at 24/96, perhaps using better outbaord preamps, maybe then your sarcasm
might carry some weight.

You suppose a firewire interface is ever going to be equipped with good
preamps?
