Hi,
As you will probably see from my questions, I am new to recording. I have quite a bit of "live" audio experience though. Firstly I am looking for a decent multi-channel analogue audio interface to use with a laptop so I guell the best solution will be firewire based. I have been looking at the MOTU 896HD at about £700. Is this a good system? Is there something cheaper that you would recomend with 8 analogue mic inputs (with phantom power) and that works well with Cubase. Secondly, there seems to be several versions of Cubase - e.g. SE and SX at 3 times the price. What are the main additional featured of SX that make it worth the additional cost? Thirdly, is Cubase the best product set for recording or is there other packages that might be better? Thanks |

I hesitate to call anything "better" because so much of a particular application's value is based on personal preference, but: You could also consider a Digi002 Rack. Eight analog inputs (four with mic pre's and DI's) plus a lightpipe input for eight more. Comes with Pro Tools LE software, which is pretty well proven as a contender. -- "It CAN'T be too loud... some of the red lights aren't even on yet!" - Lorin David Schultz in the control room making even bad news sound good (Remove spamblock to reply) |
