Default Has anyone purchase from them?

Hello all,

There are some pro audio items on www.musicians-gear.net that are not
available anywhere in the US. The prices seem good, but has anyone
every ordered anything from them and had it shipped to the US? What is
the service like?

Thanks for your comments!

Hi!

I'm in Europe (Estonia) and I've ordered from there some time ago.
Everything was fine

I have bought from them and been very happy. You do, of course, get no
manufacturer's warranty and no support of any sort whatsoever, but the
folks ship promptly and they ship what they say they will.

As always, if you are going to buy from Europe, hurry up and do it while
you still can afford to.

They are based in Germany. I've ordered things from them a number of
times (shipping to the UK and 3 times to Greece). I don't think that
they keep stock which means that sometimes you'd have to wait WEEKS for
your order to ship. The service is acceptable but don't expect it to be
the 'Mercenary experience'. If you ask in order to see whether these
people are 'bogus-sellers' or not, then the answer is NO, they exist
and they are in business... But sometimes this is not enough; the
'good' seller shows when a 'problem' occurs... In conclusion, if you
want to buy something fairly robust, reasonably priced and easily
dispatchable then go for it... if you want to buy something like a
gefell um900, an Avalon pre or anything that costs big bucks, think
about it twice... I'm not saying that it won't work but I wouldn't
gamble with something like this.

Good luck,

Evangelos

What exactly is "the Mercenary experience"?

Service was fine, prices were great at the time (90 cents to the Euro.)
Took about a month for things to arrive. Don't forget duty (4.9% on
microphones last time I checked) and international UPS charges. Oh, and
they charge your credit card when you order, not when they ship.

The level of service I have gotten from Fletcher of Mercenary Audio in
Boston MA, USA. As good as it gets or slightly better.

Thanks for all your comments. I will be buying the Beyerdynamic Opus 55
plus an in-line preamp. This set is currently not available in the US.
The prices at musicians-gear are pretty decent.

Hi Joe,

It is the service that you receive, the attention, the advice, the
support, and the fact that whatever you ask the people the usual answer
is: "this is not a problem".
It is the fact that even if you're planning to spend 50 bucks you are
being treated as a serious customer...
It is the fact that Fletcher or Tamara get back to my e-mails in a Zap.
It is the fact that they are not an online supermarket that operates
with a bunch of tele-sales administrators that are just feeding online
orders to a database.
It is the fact that the Mercenary people know about audio and WILL give
you proper advice.
It is what makes me order from the US although I live in London.

As Hank said, it is as good as it gets or slightly better.

regards,

Evangelos

I can vouch for this, as well...

If it were a military organization, the terminology would be, "Above and
beyond the call of duty." I've never heard of a single case of a dissatisfied
Mercenary customer... they make things 'right', even if it were to mean no
sale at all.

I love the little black plastic keychain ear plug holder that Mercenary
ships
with their products, with the words "Huh?" and "This is not a problem" on
it.
It's with me always.
