Hello
I did a little search around the net and couldn't find any info of a sample CD/DVD making company sueing an user that did not own the license and original CDs and used the sample on a "commercialized" track. For example Spectrasonic sounds are used everywhere and i have doubts that every user own a license. Wouldn't it be too much job for them to track down every illegal user ? I was wondering if anybody on this newsgroup knows somebody who got into troubles using samples he didn't own legally ? (i'm specifically talking about sample cds company, not sampling someone else music, even if i guess it's pretty much the same) any info appreciated patrick |

I think he's talking about if you DON'T purchase the CD...like you download the samples off P2P or burn a copy of the CD from a friend or obtain them through some other illegal channels. For example, is Bob Clearmountain really gunna find out, and then be able to prove that you used his drum samples illegally on your CD? Even if he could, would he bother? Me thinks the answer is no to all three. Jonny Durango |

He might get away with musical ones like snare samples, but I know guys
get busted using Brown Bag, Gravity, and other production library stuff. |
