Default Alesis PEQ-450 parametric eq?

Any idea how does this perform?
I am after good quality (low noise)
eq for monitoring tweaking. For 5.1
this wont work which is only sad thing
so far.

specs:
Dual 5-band parametric equalizer withfrequency, gain and Q for each band
plus highpass andlowpass filter. Up to 4-Channel processing: dual mono ,dual
stereo , or chain mode that alows 10 bands of EQ tobe applied to a stereo
signal.. Front-panel metersindicate input and output activity. 4 inputs and
4 outputs1/4" balanced TRS -10dBV or +4dBu, switchable . AlesisSemiconductor
24-bit 128x oversampling Sigma-Delta A/D,D/A converters . S/N Ratio: -103 dB
(A-weighted)

regards, jukka

I've used this unit before, and it's decent-sounding and quite noise-free
compared to analog EQ's costing twice as much. Depending on the
speakers/room it can be used as a basic speaker processor type

application,
but 5 bands isn't always enough for a standard monitor ring-out. You

should
consider the DEQ230, a dual 30-band graphic EQ based on the same DSP and
converters, and the DEQ830 offers 8 channels of EQ in one RU for less than
twice the cost of the 230.

The DEQ450 I used was an "emergency insert EQ" since soundchecks weren't
feasible at the venue, and the FX16 only has one sweeping mid. Get the
wrong voice on a 58 and you need at least 3 parametric bands to make it
palatable, and the problem wouldn't be made known until showtime...

My secondary purpose after monitoring fix is gig performances where I can
adjust
Q, Frequency and Gain. This why I actually need parametric eq.

But perhaps I need to get different unit for this monitoring purpose
(feedback destroyer
for example).

thanks,
jukka

Here's a simpler, smaller, cheaper unit for that:

Screw FBX, waste of money, destroys tone. The DEQ230 read-out tells you all
you need to know. Just keep in mind that monitor speakers don't have a flat
frequency response. Virtually every compression horn has a peak at around
4kHz, and it's no coincidence that 4kHz is one of the most common feedback
frequencies.

actually preosonus eq3b is only 20e cheaper that alesis peq-450 here.
and presonus is mono while alesis stereo
