It would be my guess that if you have A going in, and want D
out, there's a converter. I'd be interested in knowing about
other ways of doing it.

Such a mixer would certainly have at least one stereo A/D converter at the
output.

You might want to take a look at the new Mackie Onyx series.

Sorry, just checked it, the Onyx series mixers don't have a s/pdif output.
Their optional Firewire card does a lot of things, but it doesn't include a
simple s/pdif digital out.

Yes it does. What do you want the mixer for? PA, recording, something else?

Yamaha 01V96. Yes it has converters, for inputs and outputs.

I second the answer on the DDX3216. You could get this and one or two 8
channel AES/EBU I/O boards for the desk. The mixer has 16 built-in
converters on each of the16 input channels. You could assign each to one of
the 16 busses. You could then assign the busses to your AES/EBU sends. These
should be capable of interfacing with SPDIF.
