Native Instruments indicates Guitar Rig can be controlled by other MIDI
controllers, so I see no reason why you can't use the M-Audio controller. You
may have to map the controller manually if you can't find anyone who has already
done this.

Check with the Guitar Rig user group at Yahoo! Groups. I just took a quick peek
and, apparently, someone there is having success using the Behringer foot
controller so I'm guessing the M-Audio unit should work as well.

Guitar Rig has a Learn feature that you activate on the feature you want to
control via MIDI. Activate Learn, hit the MIDI controller, and GR analyzes
the incoming MIDI data and assigns it for you to the controller you
selected. You don't have to set up Program and Controller changes or
anything like that manually.

And yes the other poster was right you can use any MIDI controller to work
the software. I use Guitar Rig for my live....err, guitar rig...with a
Behringer MIDI foot controller. Which by the way is the best MIDI foot
controller I have ever seen or used, despite the manufacturer.

I doubt an analog volume pedal would do it but a MIDI expression pedal
(which could be used as a MIDI volume pedal) would and should work with
about any of the software or hardware rigs with a MIDI port (and there's
dozens).

Wierd, but the ads I've seen for NI Guitar Rig suggests the price includes a
controller pedal, for live use. It has a wah style pedal built in, from what
I can see.

Maybe I'm missing something?

It does come with the Rig Control pedal. The pedal is just a continuous MIDI
controller that you can assign to any function in the softwa volume, wah,
the level of distortion for the amp you are using, the rotating speed of the
leslie simulator, etc. The most helpful or the msot random crap you can
think of.

And to the original poster's point. An analog wah/volume pedal like a Jim
Dunlop will not work, GR works via MIDI control messages. But you can buy a
converter from GC or wherever that you plug the analog pedal into and it
will convert the analog signal into MIDI. Then you could connect it to GR
and use it to control volume or whatever you wanted (see above).
