The absolute best way to check your mix is to ask a peer, so here it
is. I am on the tail end of my longest running project ever (3 years) and I have simply lost perspective on the project, I admit I don't know what to do with the project now that its nearing completion. So I ask you to listen and post if you've got a free moment: www.soularseven.com is the band's mp3 clips page. Just figured I'd ask. Ambrose Lockerman Studio Manager, Allen Digital Studios |

I am also one of the investors on this project as the manager of this
band. they are what sort of pushed me into the recording studio engineer role as a career and for that I will forever hate them. But at this point how do I help them? Is this stuff any good? How do I find out? Just a little inexperinced. Ambrose Lockerman Studio Manager Allen Digital Studios www.allendigitalstudios.com |

They certainly do sound polished. In fact you may have worn the paint off
completely. I think, not meaning to be too cruel, that the technique is perfect, but the material itself is, well, been done before? On the other hand, so has all that genre... I say push it out the door and see if you can sell a few copies on tour and maybe locally get it on the radio, who knows... Carl wrote in message oups.com... I listened to a couple of the mixes. I listened to the first 4 songs. A bit too pop/formula/compressed for
my own personal taste but I think the songs are well played and recorded. Publish and copyright the 2 best original songs. These should be songs that the band can best pull off in live performance. Press a couple hundred to 1000 'promotional' copies and saturate your local region. Don't try to sell them , these need to be giveaways. Include contact information for feedback, gigs, etc. This will tell you if your target audience thinks it's 'any good'. Additional suggestions: 1. Finish off your web site, including posts of the band info/ pics, the sound clips and link to the band web site. Have the band link back to your site. 2. Iron out the professionalism issues between you and the band. Them dissing you on their site and you hating them in here accomplishes nothing. 3. Get the band to book as many gigs as they can reasonably play. rd |
