Default horn mic allocation

Hi All,

I've got an M160, an RE20 and an SM7. The RE20 and SM7 are on their
way to me, I've never used them before. I'm going to record tenor and
alto sax and trumpet playing soul/funk/acid jazz. I'd appreciate
opinions on which mic is best suited which instrument. Thanks!

Whichever one sounds best in your situation.

I like the RE20 on tenor, but it also sounds good on alto.

I haven't played with SM7's at all but if I had one I would set it up and make
a comparison.

I'd probably go with the M160 on the trumpet, the SM7 on the tenor, and the
RE20 on the alto
