My lady taught 37 years in the Little Rock (yes, that Little Rock) public schools. She goes about 100 pounds and takes **** from nobody. But she'd likely agree that structural problems run as deep at the local level as at the national. I'm only trying to say that we've got a lot of work to do, and less time all the time. You didn't answer the question. "Free after 9PM"
is only part of the equation. I'll complete it, from my perspective. For $33.25 a month, plus tax, I get five hours of peak cellphone service, plus (in terms of the way I use my phone) unlimited long-distance. That's a good deal -- for me. |

It's down to the head teacher and his staff. I've watched one particular "failing" school be transformed by a new head teacher over only a couple of years. Since the beginning of December, I've been playing for a pantomime production here in London. Lots of school parties. It's quite amazing how quickly you detect the ethos of a school from the kids' behaviour, and the way they interact with the teachers with them. I also sometimes perform in retirement homes. Again, the staff make an immense difference to the character of the place. Sadly, the most expensive homes are not always the best. I won't have one. dB I got the cell, mainly so that in an emergency, I could contact help, while in the car. and so that, I could basically receive any calls to me whether I'm inside or on the go. it seemed also at the time, that text messaging would be catching on and I thought that since I like to email that I may be doing more text messaging...so far, I haven't done much of text. I have a Rogers plan of 200 anytime min. for 25.00 plus 7.00 for an access fee each month, plus .50 cents more for 911 access, plus, I need voicemail and that is another 12.00 . so with taxes..it's more than I have planned on spending. it works out to about 3.5 hours per month for around 45.00 dollars cdn. or 22 cents a minute for local calls only. |

It's still very noticeable how two schools, in similar areas, can have completely different characters. It's down to the head teacher and his staff. I've watched one particular "failing" school be transformed by a new head teacher over only a couple of years. Depends on multiple factors. There are teachers who are more competent than others ranging from excellent to terrible. There are inept principals (that's what the head honcho is called in most schools in the states). There's the assinine and inherently combative politics of working with/against the school board and school superintendents whose primarily qualification seems to be their capacity to be an asshole who in a rational world would have nothing to do with education. However imho the number one problem is the students themselves, which generally is based on the home life they come from. I've worked at multiple schools, and without fail, those in more affluent areas are better than those in poor areas. What seem to cause teacher burnout more quickly than anything else are discipline problems. It's impossible to conduct a class of any quality without willing receptors, I don't care how good the teachers are. I knew an English teacher who was the kind of guy everyone wishes they had had in school. Even tempered, highly intelligent, yet with plenty of street smarts. He went the extra mile, bringing back amazing source material for students from his sojourns to Europe but more often than not, his efforts were wasted. As he told me one day, he was sick of being told to "go f*** himself" by little thugs in training. While some parents can be a pain in the ass in their oblviousness to their little angel's trespasses, as can their kids, what's even worse is being unable to contact parents at all or find that talking to them (if there *are* even 2 parents) is like talking to an autistic piece of wood, or he gets crap about it being racial or whatever b.s. issue. So, the kid spends their life between disrupting the class and being in in-school suspension, the school gets no substantive support from the parents and the public schools turn out another half-formed savage, who probably manages to sire a few ******* kids before ending up doing time. |

Don't believe a word this DeserTBob says- his name is BOB SCARBOROUGH,
he's an unemployed sickly old man from ARIZONA, who has nothing better to do but troll Usenet. He's on the government cash cow collecting welfare and disability checks, so naturally he attacks any conservative platform he can. This DesertBoob guy purchased a VHS tape from me on ebay, then returned it complaining, I gave him a new tape, then he left negative feedback disguised as neutral. He then bought an alignment tape from me for $40, he made a copy for himself, then returned that also for a full refund. That's the kind of snivelling weasel this guy is. He has FIVE EBay usenames, they are DESERTBOB- DESERTBOB1- DESERTBOB2-DESERTBOB3-VOXPOPPER he runs up negatives on a username, then moves on to another username- he buys stuff and doesn't pay, then makes "health problems" excuses in feedback for not paying- you would be wise to BAN him from all your auctions, he's more trouble than he's worth dealing with BE FORWARNED- AVOID BOB SCARBOROUGH- he destroyed the train and 8-track collecting NG's, and he'll destroy this one as well |

![]() I'd like to point you to two different sources where you can read about direct comparisons between the New Bose Wave Music System and the Cambridge Soundworks 740. I'm sure that you'll find these links to be very very helpful. I know that I did.
