Issues that pop into my head as possibilities a 1) Perhaps that's a TDM feature but not an LE feature. Perhaps you need the DV Toolkit software in LE to run that option. I've never tried it personally on an LE system....I would have to look into that. It should work in LE, at least it says it does in the manual. 2) You don't have a ProTools compatible DV converter (such as the Canopus). Your camera might have an odd DV implementation. Also, perhaps the camera isn't setup for "DV in" and because it's looking at the analog inputs has disabled the DV input. Or maybe you didn't have the camera turned on when you launched ProTools. The DV device needs to be on and connected when the software launches. It's a total possibility that it's not compatable. It did seem to work with other dv exporting software (iMovie), even software that isnt specifically for cameras (Echo Fire). it was on when I opened PT, I tried that one. 3) The movie you have imported into ProTools isn't actually a DV formatted movie. Be sure that you have a ".dv" file not a ".mov" file. Also, be sure the aspect ratio, resolution, and compression all conform to the DV standard. ProTools won't just play any old quicktime movie out of the DV port, it will only play DV movies. Convert the movie using Quicktime Pro or FCP if you have to. This was my problem. The problem now is that I do not have Quicktime pro. Is there another app that comes with panther or can be downloaded for free that does video conversion? If not I can get Quicktime pro, it's probably useful for me to have anyway. Otherwise, I'm not sure. When it works, all you have to do is turn the converter on, set it to "DV in", launch ProTools, import the movie, and then the software should give you that selection. Let me know if you have any other clues or troubleshooting that you've done. Cheers, Trevor de Clercq Thanks for your help, man.--Matt Matt wrote: Hey all, I have protools LE 6.4 and I'm trying to get it to send the image of the movie I'm workin on out the firewire port in my imac. I have a Sony DV camera hooked up to the firewire port and digidesign says it should work. But when I go to the Movie menu in protools, "Play DV Movie Out Firewire Port" is not selectable. I'm just curious if anyone knows how to set this up/has problems with this. Thanks as always--MAtt |
