Some CD's have CD Text information on them but by no means all of them.

In fact very few of them.

I'm surprised by the lack of CD Text on new releases. I have only
*one* pressed CD that has CD Text, dating back to about 2000. Why
don't they use it?

I think that Sony have the patent on CD Text for commercial releases and
only Sony's own pressing plants are allowed to press CD's with CD Text. Do
a web search on Sony-DADC for more details.

Cheers.

James.
