Default best cart machine for transfers??

I've had several old radio buddies ask if I can transfer some old carts they've
collected over the years to cd...and I have a bunch myself. I'm already doing
reel to reel and cassette transfers for some local folks, so I'm looking for
the "best"
(I know..oxymoron!) cart machine out there. I know I'll probably need
two...one for stereo and one for mono.
I do remember some super heavy duty ITCs from the old days, but I'm wondering
if there might have been something even better. I think that Otari made a cart
machine late in the game, but I can't find any info about it on the net.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Gates and ITC both made some pretty heavy-duty machines.

Personally, what I would do would be to get an open-top machine like an
old Tapecaster and mount a vernier control onto the azimuth screw so that
you can consistently and repeatably ride the azimuth.

Play-only machines are basically available free for the asking these days.

With a Tapecaster, you also have two head positions, so you can have a
mono head and a stereo head and just move the RCA plugs around to swap
between the two. This lets you use a single machine for stereo and mono
as long as you don't need to record. Don't forget the operating level on
stereo tapes is higher.
