If it's anything like the Cubase forum, don't expect a reply right away -
the two times I've posted therein, I've had to check back several days in a
row before an answer came in (maybe because I was a newbie/infrequent
poster, who knows... it's definitely a very active forum, though); however,
the information I dis get was indeed very useful.

There are a few Nuendo users on the (still functioning) Paris newsgroup,
too, BTW. Some very smart people there across multiple disciplines, too...
much like this place in a way. If you don't get an answer on Nuendo, lemme
know & I can link you to that one. A number of folks there are now using
combinations of Paris & either Nuendo or CSX.

You'll see that they have plans to change their software and will start the
forum from scratch sometime in January. They do plan to leave the current
posts as an archive for a while. The site, esp. the users forum, often has
problems, i.e. refuses to load, takes forever to load......Someone on there
runs a NashvilleCubaseNuendo group. I can't recall their address but maybe
Google will find it.

Thanks. Now I know what happened to Brian Tankersley! g Was wondering
what he was going to do after Paris went tits up in a ditch.

AFAIK, he still uses Paris for some things. I recall some posts when he was
still hanging in the Paris NG where he was saying he was tracking through
one & importing the tracks into the other for mixdown - I think Nuendo for
tracking & Paris for mixing. Dunno if he's still doing that. A couple guys
on the Paris NG are doing something similar. Me, I really liked the sound of
Paris, but I don't have the desire to get as complex as all that, so SX with
good convertors does fine for me.

Thanks. I know Gantt Kushner still uses Paris about a mile down the road
from me, but I've often wondered just what one would need to see in a
product to make the move. Nuendo certainly seems to be impressive, although
my 2.0 version doesn't want to see my Digi9652 even though Samplitude 7.23
does.

That was basically the question I was really trying to run down. The
problem is that the Nuendo v2 software came with the 9652 and it's not able
to be registered. I figured that I'd at least take a look at it in terms of
working with video but it only recognizes my stupid onboard sound. As far
technically astute, the program kicks butt, however I don't have any real
methods of working with it to see how it "performs".

It's not like I can't do the job in Samplitude but there are some extremely
nice features in Nuendo that could make a job just fly by.

In my case, I just needed to see that there wouldn't be any further
progress - the latest version was bug-ridden & there still hasn't been a
bugfix version since then. I also wanted to start experimenting with higher
sample rates & also not have to wonder if a VST plugin would work or not,
depending on what kind of wrapper I had. Other people have different needs &
stayed in mainly for the sound (which is indeed good - but there is more
than one definition of "good" IMO... there can be any number of different
setups that sound good, yet simply different from each other).

Could it be a driver issue? Do you have the latest drivers? Google up the
phrase "letest Nuendo drivers" and you'll get a bunch of returns, from the
downloading section of the Swineberg site itself, to various mirror sites,
offering (perhaps) newer versions of the drivers you have.

That was basically the question I was really trying to run down. The

I think there is at least one person that I can recall using Nuendo for
video on the Paris NG site... try this newsgroup address if you want to
check in & ask:

For the 9652, the most up-to-date drivers are on the RME site:

http://www.rme-audio.com/english/index.htm

You might also check in on the forums at www.nuendo.com; if you can wade
through all the juvenalia, platform-bashing and colorful international didn't
rtfm nonsense there's a lot of good information on there-- also the associated
info base.

There are lots of 9652 users there... I'm one of them, but on a Mac.

Happy new year,

MC
