Default Batch Converter Recommendendations

I am looking for some recommendations for audio batch converters. I am
primarily translating large batches of audio file into low bitrate formats.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Platform/Operating System/format?

On a Mac greater than a 68020 using a system greater than 7.0 and

less than
OSX, SoundApp V2.7.2 is a very nice Freeware program by Norman Franke

that
will drag and drop batch convert.

Why couldn't it do a file conversion in Classic on OSX? There's no IO
involved.

SoundApp, while outstanding in its day, is now archaic. For example, it
can't even do MP3 encoding. Last updated almost four YEARS ago. It's an
absurd recommendation.

On the PC side, I highly recommend dBpowerAMP Music Converter. Stupid name,
great freeware. All sorts of codecs ready to use, from MP3 to FLAC.
Highlight a bunch of files in a folder, right-click, convert to..., choose
codec, settings, output folder, off she goes. Very Mac-like! Even SoundApp
was never this user-friendly.
