Default Solution to Adobe Premiere and Sonar on the same box...

Easy solution....

Remove premier, and install vegas 5. it works much easier and is 10 times
more stable. Plus the audio apps in Vegas are more then most audio apps by
itself!

Symptom is that after installing Adobe Premiere, Sonar cannot see ASIO
drivers.

I found a solution (no thanks to paid Adobe Premiere Pro support)

Someone on the Sonar forum helped me with this:

Jazz,
There is a file called 'asiodxAd.dll' in the folder '\program
files\adobe\premiere pro\plug-ins'. This file is the culprit although it
may
still be a Sonar parsing problem, you can safely rename this file to
'asiodxAd.dll.sav' temporarily when running audio software, and back again
for Premiere. I wrote a few scripts wrapped around a call to sonarpdr.exe
to
automate this myself and it seemed to work just fine.

Thanks. FYI - In Adobe Premiere 1.5, the filename is asiodxAd15.dll and is
in the plug-ins/en_US folder.

I renamed it and sonar can now see the ASIO drivers.

Additionally, premiere works fine even with this file renamed as long as I
select the proper hardware's ASIO driver and don't try to use a "wrapped"
wdm driver.

Where did you find this information? Adobe's researched this for over a
week
and can't figure it out.

Great customer support, eh?!?

I used to use premiere before final cut came out. i actually kept it on
a separate hard drive with a separate system and booted from that system
disk when using it. It really messed with everything (that was os9).
that solved all the problems, even if it was a pain to deal with.
