Default Sorry, I just keep on asking questions

Hi,

I can see how this could be interpreted as a more 'trolling' type
question on a group like this (I pop in often to alt.guitar.beginner
and stuff like tube amps versus SS amps can easily blow up) but I am
really interested in some opinions on the matter.

Basically on peoples experiences or views on recording with a mixer
and a digital studio type setup or recording via a pc.

I get annoyed with pc recording, amp buzz via the radiation from the
monitor (having to swich it off anf on basically when recording),
using the mouse when I could simple tap a button with the guitar pick
still in my hand etc. But there must be some pluses. People have
mentioned more versitile, i'm struggling to see in what way, suppose
ou can constantly update software etc, but I'm the type of person who
doesnt like digital technology regarding instruments sounds. I.e.
using a digital box or computer pluggin to create a distorted guitar,
or to add effects. I'd far sooner record it propery with the required
effects on. I dont know.

I'd be grateful if anyone can point me towards some literature
regarding this subject, useful books or even websites. I'm not new to
the guitar by far, but am very new to recording and its something I
never thought about doing more proper, until recently.

Just again, I really do not intent this to be a flamitory type
question, so please if you do reply can you do it constructively (+
plus it'll help me more which is a good thing for me! )

Thanks for any help/advice or any replies!

Jon

I'll leave the other questions to others for answers, but I just wanted to
pop in a note that flat-screen LCD monitors have little or no
electromagnetic radiation, so you don't have to turn them off when recording
electric guitars.

Peace,
Paul
