No. Car players are the worst type for compatibility with CD-Rs. Some media may work better than others. Next worst players are domestic 'changer' type carousel players. geoff |

I remember a thread here perhaps a year ago that mentioned something about older CD players not being able to handle CD's that didn't have at least a dB or so headroom. -- I highly doubt that. Rob R. I did a few less dbs & it worked but then it went back to being screwed. I think it's had it's day. I've changed different brands of CDs, varied the burn times, different burn programs and still the same problem - some work some don't. It's worse than it's ever been though. Only thing I could think of was that cheaper players may not have as sophisticated conversion process and might see something with unwavering high peaks as some kind of clipping/malfunction state and thus try to reread the data or skip. Me too. There is not effort on the digital side in gettting any of the PCM off the disc. D-As are D-As . What they may be referring to is that the audio power amp may not be able to adequately pump out full volume peaks, which is not a situation unique to cars (but can be exacerbated by only a 12VDC supply in 'basic' players). That's nothing to do with the digital content of the CDs. geoff |

That's nothing to do with the digital content of the CDs. That could be it, but I'm pretty sure the subject was in direct reference to the players themselves... Google it up if you want to verify. I don't recall exactly how long ago it was, but it was indeed on this group. -- Neil Henderson Saqqara Records http://www.saqqararecords.com |
