Perhaps this should go to another newsgroup, but sound is involved,
and the clue ratio is much higher here than elsewhere... Anyway: for years I've noticed when watching a film that the video and audio of scene changes are not synchronized. Sometimes the audio comes in as much as 3 seconds earlier. That is, while the video is still on the previous scene, dialog or whatever from the subsequent scene comes in. It's almost as if it's priming the viewer's visual sense for what's to come. What is up with this? Is there a name for this? When did it start? Why? Does it bug anyone besides me? dp |
