Default V76s studio amp

I have just got a beautiful v76s studio version v76 with gold plated
contacts and a send/return connection on the connector for the
optional compressor/eq from the same series.

I have some V72 amps as well as a home built pre that uses ef12 tubes
to compare with.

It seems to me that the V72 is more intimate sounding and realistic
than the V76 but aesthetically a little thinner sounding. The V76
like mid 60's records, with a slight softness to the sound and a
little more thickness in the mids than the v72.

It sounds more at home with a U67 than a U47 to my ears. Perhaps
because the EF86/EF804s are the same family of tubes and because the
U67 has global negative feedback in the circuit, like the v76?

Anyone have any suggestions for refurbishing or getting the most out
of this V76s?

How do I stop the subchassis from moving around inside?
