Default digital i/o and vocal processor

hey. i'm looking to buy a vocal processor and i/o for my computer. i
have $2000 to spend (maybe a little bit more). i've been looking at
the motu986hd. does anyone like this? any other suggestions on
similar models besides the motu? as far as the vocal processor goes i
have no idea which model's are better, so which ones do you like? i'm
looking for one that allows you to combine effects and save them so
when we play i can use the ones i created for each song. if there's
one out there that's better and can't save effects i'd go for the
quailty over this option.

thanks,
adam

I don't know it.

Not in this context.

as far as the vocal processor goes i have no idea which model's
are better, so which ones do you like?

What problem is it that you want to solve? - and in what context, studio
or live? - please define it when asking such a question!

i have two goals. one to record a demo of songs i have written. and
two, to get the live performance to have a similar sound to the demo,
which means i'll need to used the same effects (maybe mix). the home
recording (demo) part is more important to me than the live. i'm just
looking for a digital i/o so i can record tracks onto my computer
music studio software (protools, sonar, which ever i choose to get); i
have a pc (2ghz processor, 512mb ram, 60 gb hard drive (5200 rpms i
believe). as far as the vocal processor goes i jsut want something
that have a nice effects data base so i can mess around with it and
see which vocal effects sound good for each song. the band sounds
like a mix between alice in chains and black sabbath and that makes
any difference. thanks. hope this explains it better.

Subtle didn't do it. On your keyboard you have shift keys.

What prevents aiming for natural?

Black Sabbath actually has a very natural sound, at least the record I
have with them.

thanks. hope this explains it better.

It certainly does.

peter,
thanks for the NO advice, there's your damn capital letter. it seems
like you think you know everything, and if you do you really keep it
to yourself don't you. yeah, black sabbath does have a natural sound,
but have you ever noticed that ozzy's vocals have a good amount of
effects on them, at least some i.e. lord of this world, etc. i'm not
looking to copy anyone so i'm not trying to get the black sabbath
sound, i just named them as an influence. thanks again for helping me
in no way... -adam

MY TURN. LOL

The 896 is good. as an I/O

of course for just doing a Demo, are you recording the entire band,
etc....or what? We need a bit more detail to direct you properly.

Vocal processor or a Reverb unit?? A vocal processor could be as simple
as an old Digitech vocalist, it processed vocals.

The presonus Eurka is called a vocal channel strip for example, when
you eq and compress with it, the vocal is "processed"

if it is a reverb unit, there are tons to choose from. Got to a music
store hook up a mic and go through the presets. Most if not all current
digital units allow you to save your presets and most if not all have a
midi connection so you can have your sequencer call up your presets.
