Is this ebay item just about the same as hanging heavy drapes? BRBR


In terms of soundproofing, it probably is the same as heavy drapes: ie, none
at all. Without any measurement numbers to back it up, I'd guess the
absorption coeffiecient would be in the same ballpark, but that has nothing to
do with soundproofing. The only way to soundproof a space is through careful
construction using mass, integrity, and mechanical decoupling, eg, multiple
layers of sheetrock, double wall, floated floor construction with airtight
seals around all perforations. Soundproofing is hard to do.
