---I've finally narrowed down my choices for a new 8-track digital
recorder to the following three units: Fostex MR-8 ($300), Boss BR-864 ($400) and Fostex VF80EX ($550). What I like about the VF80EX is the hard drive and CD burner (no buying new CompactFlash cards in the future) although I would prefer a unit with just the hard drive (less expensive) since I could burn the CDs on my desktop computer. ---Regarding the other two, although the Fostex MR-8 gets rave reviews and is the cheapest, I've always like the solid feel and reliability of Roland products (Boss BR-864). Help me out here. If you own one of these units and can brag about it, let me know, either here or by email. I want to be able to lay down at least three vocal tracks and would like to use my Yamaha PSR-600 keyboard with its backing instrumentation and also add a lead guitar track. All suggestions greatly appreciated. |
