sometimes jamming with a drum loop will take you to some unexpected
places - and I certainly wasn't expecting to wind up with this! Atmospheric AND crunchy, together at last! Like the last two songs, "Night Of The Ice Weasels" started life as a jam with GarageBand on my Mac - but halfway through the recording process I wound up bouncing this to a stereo track and importing it into Cubase, adding some more tracks and going to town with some effects. The guitars on this are all Peavey Falcon - the main guitars and solos were pumped through the POD 2, then given some judicious tweezing with stuff like the Karlette multi-delay VST plug-in. The Dreibelbass was also tweezed in this one - run first through the POD, and then re-amped through one of GarageBand's modeled bass amp settings for a ripsaw sound! The drums are some free Appleloops I found via MacJams.com . The synths come from the wonderful NI FM7 plug-in, with the solos triggered with my Falcon/Roland GM-70 setup. The loop fit the tone of the basic track nicely, the sort of thing you'd expect on one of Joe Walsh's weirder synth stuff. That title? It comes from a musing from Matt Groening's "Life In Hell" comic strip about how love is like a snowmobile racing across the tundra until it flips over, pinning you underneath - and then you meet these. I've had my fair share of accidents in that regard :/ As usual, feel free to download and tell me what you think! -- Dan Dreibelbis, Guitar Nerd - Better Living Through Home Recording Now On Soundclick for your listening pleasure! http://www.soundclick.com/bands/2/da...elbismusic.htm new song "Night Of The Ice Weasels" |
