Default PC Controllable Audio Switch

Anyone aware of what type of product(s) can take audio from a sound card and
split it to various speaker "pairs/zones". I want it so that software on
the PC can control which zones get the music

I found one thing that looks okay... http://www.hacs.com/ab8ss.html (of
course with my luck its out of stock). Even with that thing; I'm not sure
what type of amplifier I need.

Any advice/guidance is greatly appreciated.

Frank

Any multi-channel sound card with most any multi track software.
Layla24 - Sonar $1000
Delta1010 - Cubase $1000
RME - Nuendo $2500
Digi - Protools $6000

Wire each set of speakers to different outputs of sound card. It would be
nice to have 8 Crown CE1000's that would allow you to wire 8 sets of
speakers to them an extra $5000 unless you have powered speakers.
$6000-$11000 is that too high?

if it is you could try:

For approx. $19.99 you could go to Radio Shack and get a "Speaker control
center" it will allow 4 sets of speakers to be switched off on or blend some
of them together. You have to push the buttons your self it is not computer
controlled. Don't know of any computer switch other than multi-channel
sound cards.

You won't find this off the shelf with binding posts marked "speaker 1" and
"speaker 2"

You want a computer controlled switching arangement and you'll have to do
some work yourself.

a Google for "computer controlled switch" has lots of hits. here's a good
start:
