Default OT Independence day

Well folks in the US of A, I see as it's 3pm on the 4th of July here in
New (please note that's pronounced nyoo not noo) Zealand it must be nearly
the 4th of July in your part of the world.

That means, of course, it's time to wish y'all a greeting suitable for
Independence Day. So I'll do just that, and celebrate the fact that it's
about the only time I can be first with something on RAP!

It's a good movie day.

Much of the country will break out the small explosives and celebrate "Yay,
we're not Canada!" day.

Celebrated the 4th on the Capital steps watching fireworks over the
Washington monument. A 4th to remember.

So how did the band sound? I was about half a mile away at the National
Gallery watching them and listening to the radio broadcast, and the orchestra
sounded amazingly spotmiked. On one piece, the drum kit sounded louder and
closer than the orchestra, too. Was it that weird live? I understand that
some reinforcement is needed for orchestras outdoors with that size crowd,
but this was just not natural.

Lucky you weren't here yesterday. I was swimming all right, but not in my
pool. I couldn't have been wetter working in the yard if I had been in the
pool. Dreadful, but normal for DC. About the only place I've been where
it's as bad with humidity is Houston.

Richmond is not excatly dry. It's on days like this that I miss Upstate NY.

And I did go. I won't mention the title, but there were fireworks in the beginning.

Didn't realize you were in the area. All across the south has been just
nasty humid all summer. Rains almost every day in Atlanta, too.

I was in town Friday through Sunday. Brought my umbrella and was OK except
for Sunday morning walking back from the National Cathedral after church
when the bottom fell out. The only good part of that was that I got to
escort a lady home under my umbrella before heading off to the Metro
station.

If Norman is me, I wasn't there. I used to be able to sit on my backroom
roof and watch the fireworks but then a 50 foot oak tree grew in the way (in
a measly 15 years). I heard local fireworks, but definitely heard the
howitzers. Kinda reminded me of when the Naval ordinance yard up at White
Oak blew up. Now THAT made a noise AND we felt it, and it's about 6 miles
away.

OK, Scott was there. Norman was there. Which other RAPpers that I'd
really like to meet were in DC on the fourth?
