Hi there -
I'm doing a recording for a film at a friends home pro-tools hd studio, and we are about to track vocals and I'm thinking of renting a mic. The song is very Peter Gabriel'ish and the singer we hired sounds alot like Peter. The mics we have a AKG C414 EV RE20 SM57 The preamps we have a Brent Averil Neve 1272 Avalon 2 channel preamp (I dont know the model) Focusrite Red1 In past experiences at this studio I've had no luck with my voice on any of the mics. I know that doesnt mean much because of how different my voice is from this singer. I ended up using an AKG, but I'm willing to rent a mic or even a preamp if it will make a difference. Any Recommendations? Here is a site with a typical list of mics I'll be able to rent: http://www.audiorents.com/html/microphones.html |

Its not my gear. Its my friends studio and he's a drummer that also
does voice overs. So the gear is purchased around those needs, He uses the 414 as overheads, re20 on bass drum, re20 for voice overs etc... Thanks for the suggestion. Im leaning towards the vm-1 khe at the moment, but a U87 could be great. |
