Default What's with this EQ?

Hello all,

For months I've seen this guy on Ebay with a bunch of, I believe, new
old stock Siemens Eq's. They are a different size and shape than the
more common models (295's and so forth). He doesn't seem to be able to
give them away. I've never seen anybody even bid on them. They seem to
be discreet and have transformers.....I know that doesn't mean they
sound any good but with the other models actually commanding some
money, does anyone know why no one seems to interested? Are they
horrible? Anyone? Beuhler? Beuhler?

This is more European broadcast gear, possibly from the eastern block.
People aren't bidding on it because it's parted out from consoles that
were never sold in the US, so nobody here really knows what it is.

Same thing used to be the case for the Telefunken console preamps and
EQs... they were all over the place in broadcast facilities in Eastern
Europe and after the wall fell down, there were huge numbers of them on
the surplus market. Nobody in the US had a clue what they were, so they
sold for very cheap here. Then all of a sudden they started to get this
huge buzz, and the demand took off, and everybody wanted stuff to "warm up"
their digital tracks, and then all of a sudden they were selling for way
more than they were ever worth. Weird.

The Seimens gear was well-made German broadcast stuff. Is it worth anything?
Who knows?

Since they are an unknown entity in the US, the pricing is way out of line
with the minimal description.

It would have been helpful if you had provided a link.
