Default B & B Audio EQF-1

Can anyone help me to trace the history of the B & B audio EQF-1 EQ?
I have seen a similar unit from Aphex a while ago but never a console
or product from B & B Audio. Its about the size as an older API EQ
and may have been a third party piece.

Thanks

Wow, was that a blast from the past. B&B was around for a minute in the
early '80s, if I recall. One of the Bs was David Baskind, who was a
fairly important guy in our field. The other was Ed Bissot. The modules,
were, I believe, built using APIs form factor and connector layout, and
formed the predecessor for the Aphex modular EQ. Baskind worked with
Aphex on some early products. He also was an innovator in VCA design.

I haven't actually seen one of these units on over 20 years, but I'll
look through my files and see if I have any info. I did take care of an
API that had been a Record Plant Remote console at one time, that, if I
recall correctly, had some B&B modules in it.

If I can't find any info, someone else will, I'm sure. If
troubleshooting is needed, I would start with the Aphex schematic, if
nothing else is available.

We own a pair of EQF-2 EQ modules, one is a B&B and the other is an
Aphex. Apart from the face plate cosmetics, they appear to be more or
less the same thing. I always assumed the B&B came first, and the
design must have been picked up by Aphex later. I haven't used them in
a while.

would it be out of place to suggest Aphex ripped off B&B's design
honestly I don't know anything about this product but I am just looking
at the Irony that would come out if it were true
after all the stink about behringer /aphex

I don't think so, because they even have the same model number. No
company that planned on staying in business would make such an exact
clone without permission. A previous poster mentioned one of the
principals at B&B being a designer at Aphex, and that sounds very
reasonable to me.

Thanks to everyone,

I found a supplier for the winky's and have replaced them with plastic
units instead of the ceramic one's. I also replaced many of the
contacts in the switches at the same time. I am posting an old photo
of them prior to the work.
