Default connection to an imac

Hey guys,
I have 2 questions: 1) Is there a name for the digital connector
that has 25-pins, a row of 13 and a row of 12?

2) How can I connect a device...namely a roland si-24 audio
interface/control surface—

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...e_pid/707041X/

....to my imac g4?

3) Will this controller/interface work on my imac like any other thats
normally connected via USB, Firewire, or MIDI?

Being that I could record 8 simultaneous tracks, mix with motorized
faders, and have multiple audio outputs, this unit would solve a lotta
problems. Any way anyone can think of of getting this thing connected
and working with an imac g4 (which doesnt have pci card slots if
anyones unfamiliar) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance.--MAtt

You can't - according to the listing, it's an expansion unit for Roland's
VS-2480/2400 multitrackers, not a computer audio interface. And going back to
your first question, from the description on the website I'd guess that's an
R-BUS port you're describing.

That is an r-bus port, a proprietary roland interface, although it looks
like a standard 25 pin port, it is wired differently.

You may still be able to buy a roland r-bus pci card... Imac... I don't
think you have a chance in hell.

Not on an Imac. My impression is that you can send MMC messages over the
r-bus port, but I really don't know.

Umm... you basically can't do it, sorry. I don't believe Roland has a USB to
r-bus adapter. So you can either buy a cheap PC for audio and the PCI card
or forget about it.
