Hello all,
I just picked-up an old Studer A80RC mono machine. It's 1/4" and it's got full track heads. I want to use this thing mainly as a reamp machine. Right now, it can only playback, not record. It ain't go no record card in. I found some on Ebay and now I want to know if it's the only thing I'm missing! Anyone got infos on those old machines? I haven't found much on the web. Thanks in advance. Marc Girard www.marcgirard.com |

Look for an Erase & Record head...if they're missing, the price for
conversion to something usable has gone up quite a bit. Marc Girard wrote: Hello all, I just picked-up an old Studer A80RC mono machine. It's 1/4" and it's got full track heads. At first look, everything's there. I've got the 3 heads. I'm just
not sure if I need more cards because I have a few "Studer" plates missing underneath the desk. I thought that maybe there once was cards there... I have all of the transport cards (to the right of the machine). I've got a Repro card (which works obviously) and a Stabilizer card. Now, I *think* I might be only missing the record card (which I bought, I'm waiting for it). I've got no experience what so ever with those machines. That's why I'm short of info here. Sorry about that. Thanks! Marc Girard www.marcgirard.com Stephen Anderson wrote in message hlink.net... Hi Marc,
You really need a manual to work on Studer machines. I happen to have one for the A-80 RC. E-me if you decide you need one. RC manuals are pretty rare. Good luck, Chris P |

You really need a manual to work on ANY gear that was intended for large pro studio facilities having a shop. You also need all the tech notes and hopefully a log of all the modifications done. This is not mass-produced consumer gear and only a very few units didn't require extensive modifications after they were released. Older pro gear is more like an Indi 500 car than a family sedan. One reason it is often so much better than new gear is the fact that it frequently benefited from the shared expertise of our leading studio technicians. -- Bob Olhsson Audio Mastery, Nashville TN Mastering, Audio for Picture, Mix Evaluation and Quality Control Over 40 years making people sound better than they ever imagined! 615.385.8051 http://www.hyperback.com |
