Here's my setup:

But now I have some analogue outboard gear I'd
like to use to effect some tracks I've previously recorded. So, I set
it up like this:
digigram spdif-out Hedd spdif-in Hedd analogue-out
outboard analogue-in outboard analogue-out
Hedd analogue-in Hedd spdif-out digigram spdif-in.
I've tried every
combination of settings I could think of, in the digigram setup
window, in CE and on the Hedd. I just can't get it to record the
effected signal.
Are you sure you've selected the digital input for recording on a new
track? Enabled Recording (clicked on the red button)? Are you
getting signal to your outboard processor when playing the track?
Getting signal from the processor into the HEDD?
This shouldn't be any different from recording from your mic preamp
into the HEDD, so there must be cockpit trouble in your program.
I thought I could at least use the digigram's analogue outs and ins
connected directly to the outboard's .. but that hasn't worked either.
I either get full scale squeeling or robo-effects (and I was patching
into a compressor).
Oh - well you need to turn off the monitor output for the track you're
recording so it doesn't get fed back into the processor. There buttons
for that in your recording program. Check the manual.
I was going to suggest using the Digigram's analog I/O rather than
putting the HEDD in the signal path. The converters are just fine.
