Default audio import and editing help

My daughter has some old voice cassettes that she she wants to import
into her pc and then edit some of the background noice out of.These
are just monoral audio cassettes. She has a rca to rca plug to use to
get it to audio card but then what does she need to do?I know this is
a broad question but she doesn't know what kind of software to use or
how to do it.We were looking at Adobe Audition 1.5 but it is real
pricey, and don't know if it would do what she wants
to do.Any kind people ou there that would be willing to give use some
advice on this?
Thanks

Look up Audacity on google, download it (freeware), and use it in good
health. When you develop an educated taste for something "saltier" like
Audition, move up. If you never move up, well then there you are!
