Default 147 tube problems

This is the second time my Neumann 147 tube has blown. It first blew
when was using it as an overhead for drum kit, and now I had it in
front of my SMF amp and it blew again. I had the amp using a thd
hotplate so it wasn't even that loud

Is there something I'm missing about this mic or did I just get a bad
one.

There's no reason for the tube to "blow" just from exposure to sound.

That's true in general, but this particular model had somewhat more than
its share of "birth pangs" at first (mainly a few years ago).

Definitely the first move should be to contact one's dealer, Neumann USA,
or the Neumann representative in whatever country one is working in--by
now they know fairly well how to deal with the situations that come up.
